“You get what you deserve” it’s an ageless saying.
This words has survived the years, because it’s true. For the
most part, but not for everyone, In Warri today, some people get more than
they deserve, (local street thugs, police officers, military men, Rich Kids,
bank staffs, etc) because they believe they aren’t like everyone else. That the laws of the land, the ones people like me and you that hustle right, work hard to survive, don't apply to them. That they can do or attempt anything and live
happily ever after, while the rest of us suffer. They sometimes operate in
shadows or in the open, they are reckless and still get away because we have
created a cloak with our indifference, refusal to act, our lack of interest in
anything that doesn’t directly affect you, me or anyone close to us.
Another man evil does not make you good, for long we have used
the atrocities or foolishness of those we claim we are better than to justify
our inefficiency.
Maybe you and me has become tired, tired of words unspoken or
action not taken, anger not released, ideas that didn't see light, struggling to hold unto hope that no longer exist, because of
those who take more than they deserve, and they want to keep taking until all
that’s left for you, me and the city is a memory of how it used to be.
The question today, for the city, You, Me,
should we let them take more than they deserve and we continue to suffer from
their atrocities? I think it’s time we join our voices and forces together,
You, Me to speak and act with one voice and might, and say we still matter and
that there’s more to this city than meets the eye.
We can’t allow the unrefined and crude mind to control our city,
deplete our resources and wreck havoc to our collective good name. The time to
act is NOW.
There is only one time that is important, and
it is NOW! It is the most important time because it is the only time when we
have any power.
It’s time for a New Warri.
