At every turn is a call to get your PVC, why? because the people are dissatisfied by the way various administrations has piloted the affairs of the country and everyone want genuine change and the only weapon to effect this change is by getting your voters card.
Getting your voters card is not even enough, as it has become obvious that eligible voters with permanent voters card don't turn up to vote during elections. According to former INEC Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega, speaking before the last general election, he noted that Delta State has received well over two million PVCs, but guess what, the number of voters that came out to vote, was less than two million. Statistics from the last LGA Chairmanship and Councillorship election that was held in Delta state, was less than a million and five hundred voters in the entire state.
This was the rationale behind the tweet chat on the discussion, "Will Warri Vote?" with the same hashtag #willwarrivote.
The tweet chat attracted residents from all parts of the city and those that consider the city home and hold it dear to heart and resides outside the city, we had people participating from Portharcourt, Benin, Lagos, Ghana, and London.
A total of 250 tweets was tweeted with the hashtag from different individuals sharing their thoughts with their tweets. Here are some of the tweets from the discussion.

How can we get the #newwarri
We are clamouring for?
Yes! Warri people will vote at the forthcoming election elections for the following reasons.— Ibezim Perpetua (@amaPerpy) February 15, 2018
1. The present economic/security situation of the country is enough reason for residents to wake up.
Obviously everyone is concerned. The best we can do is vote right! #newwarri https://t.co/NFvEgHiwhY
#newwarri,is our human right,we will vote, but is not possible for all to vote.— prosper (@prosylens007) February 15, 2018
YES!— ZITU CONCEPT (@zituconcept) February 15, 2018
Alot of people have gotten their PVC and can't wait to exercise their civic right.
I've spoken to few persons and I must say their zeal to vote is quite fascinating.
I guess we all want to be part of the "change" and #newwarri#willwarrivote
Thinking of this— Ovi_destine (@ovi_destine) February 15, 2018
we need to organised sensitize program for people to get their PVC and know the importance of Voting.

Hi.— Tobore Adakaraza (@tobyadaz) February 15, 2018
My answer is not in the option, so allow me create my option. Waffirians will vote but not as much. And sadly there will be a lot of insignificant votes. My following tweets will explain my points and concerns. #willwarrivote https://t.co/4eHbjoBtru
for the #newwarri have you got Your PVC— Ovi_destine (@ovi_destine) February 15, 2018
try and get your and educate people to get their
and see either #willwarrivote Thanks
Could it be connected to the fact that over the years we've barely seen any effect oof our LG Chairmen or Councillors?— Timi Pudie Films (@tpudie) February 15, 2018
The truth is that, there is little about Voter's awareness and mobilization about such local elections. Secondly, people do not trust the system or elections to be transparent. Over time, the party at the Centre will always win the day either by groom or hook— Abraham Ekperusi (@Ekperusi_05) February 15, 2018
Very important👌— ZITU CONCEPT (@zituconcept) February 15, 2018
This is KEY!#willwarrivote
I have visited the PVC registration centers thrice in the last 3weeks, interestingly, majority of waffirians are not getting PVCs to vote, instead they are getting it to ‘upgrade their BVN’. This means credit should be given to the banks for the crowd we see there. #willwarrivote https://t.co/4eHbjoBtru— Tobore Adakaraza (@tobyadaz) February 15, 2018
I think they will vote as always.. The real question for me is: Who or what are they voting for?— Timi Pudie Films (@tpudie) February 15, 2018
Many eligible Voters do not have PVC. In fact, they are not interested in the elections, because they feel their vote do not count #willwarrivote— Abraham Ekperusi (@Ekperusi_05) February 15, 2018
Warri will vote but the question is what type of voting. The middle class barely come out on election day. They stay at home and analyse the election. Those that come out, go back home once they are done voting. They do not wait for the results.— Normofe (@Normofe) February 15, 2018
Deltans have had a terrible electoral experience and this has informed the electoral passiveness we see during elections and until there is a commitment to make every vote count things might not change. @newwarri #willwarrivote— Ruona Oghuvbu (@ruonaoghuvbu) February 15, 2018
The lower class comes out during elections because they will be paid. They don't care about government policies desoute them being at the receiving end of these bad policies. The policies has entrenched poverty and this has helped to keep them in check— Normofe (@Normofe) February 15, 2018
Yes, I believe residents in Warri will vote as they have always done because they are interested in who gets into govt in Delta state as everyone seems to be connected to govt one way or another in this city #willwarrivote— Wanogho Mamiyere M. (@MamusWanogho) February 15, 2018
at this moment I will speak for myself, I would vote and hope my vote counts #willwarrivote #newwarri— Gennifer (@mzgennifer) February 15, 2018
No,I don't think people will vote during presidential elections. At least not everyone. Mainly because warri people will only vote for their 'person',who will share national cake to them in form of rice and money.— #EndSARS (@zizzyliz_) February 15, 2018
Yes... It might be for other reasons but the majority of those clamouring want tovote! But the question remains. What understanding do they have on how important it is to vote and vote right?— SDGs CDS Warri South (@CdsSdgs) February 15, 2018
What choices do they have?
So in the end, if these questions need answers#willwarrivote https://t.co/2DqgAb4hkD
I mean, there are actually a lot of folks that would want to come out and cast their votes, but they will be sternly warned by family members or friends not to step out of the house on election day for security reasons. #willwarrivote @newwarri— Tochukwu (@ta44ca63) February 15, 2018
Of course Yes! Went to the local government secretariat and I was amazed at the number of persons in a queue awaiting to see the chairman most of them I could deduced were them for personal reasons. People do not understand what they stand for and how to collaborate with them.— Ibezim Perpetua (@amaPerpy) February 15, 2018
