6 Things Warri Can Learn From the 2016 US Election.

I first knew about the President-elect of the United States of American, when he co-authored a book by Robert Kiyosaki titled “Why We Want You To Be Rich”, can’t remember the message, the book contained, but I honestly believe that the world may never forget that Donald John Trump, the American businessman, turned politician will be sworn in as the 45th President on January 20, 2017.

Last week, President Barack Obama was quoted saying during an interview on a syndicated radio program "If we let this thing slip and I've got a situation where my last two months in office are preparing for a transition to Donald Trump, whose staff people have said that their primary agenda is to have him in the first couple of weeks sitting in the Oval Office and reverse every single thing that we've done," Now I would have thought that "The so beloved Barack Obama" with such an emotional appealing speech will be the clincher for Hillary but  here we are today looking unto an uncertain future with the world greatest nation, having a man who has gone through media tsunami and came out unscathed. US wanted change, just like Obama was once the change.

Donald J Trump has won, he has received congratulations from both Hillary and Barack, it’s time to pick up the fragments and learn the lessons.
1. People will always desire change.
The world has had eight years of democrats, they needed something different and republican Trump was what they've got or the only food on the table. If we are able to absorb this reality then, we can on this premise consciously take initiatives to change our lives, change our city. There’ll always be the need for change, Nigerians know that, Americans know that, they knew that if they didn’t change, they may just be left behind. If we refuse to change Warri, our city may just be left behind.

2. There’s a system or cabal
I strongly believe that there’s always a system or cabal at play in every society. They lurk in the shadow, place certain individuals in power and then control and influence every decision these leaders make. We can argue about that, but I think they have sat down and had a conversation over the next American President. Just last week, I learnt about The “American Legislative Exchange Council” (ALEC) and was shocked by the pedigree of members they had and how they have influenced policies not just only from the shadows. (See the documentary the 13th amendment)
Warri as a city needs a system that work, not necessary a cabal, but a collection of individuals consciously working to make the city better. The good news is, there’s already a few individuals doing a few things, operating on the edges, thinking differently, applying tools strikingly different, creating new cultures: new values, new ways of doing things, new ways of seeing Warri from a global perspective that can become the genetic material for a larger social transformation, reinvigorate cultural and social system or way of life.

3. Do not be fooled by the media
I doubt if many people had given Trump any chance based on the ratings by the polls? CNN, Fox news, BBC have all one way or the other insinuated that Hillary Clinton will seat in the Oval office, but here we are. She has ridden on the popularity of American superstars like Jay Z and his Wife Beyonce, Lady Gaga etc to influence the media.

A recent research showed that from 2008 - 2016, Delta State was ranked number one searcher of porn on the internet. This sad truth is that Warri, which is over sixty five percent of Delta State consumes porn online. We spend so many time on the media, TV’s (Telemundo), Social Media, Games and neglect reality. Hillary may have relented on her campaign because the media favoured her, but Trump ignored the media and worked harder. We should do that as residents of Warri. Change the negative statistics on porn and other frivolities.

4. Be Professional
Last week seating with my big brother and chatting about the US election, he talked about how bad the last emails released from Hillary deleted account. I sensed uncertainty from his voice and expected the unexpected from the election. While this may seem bad for her, it’s a display of professionalism, proper record keeping. Many business owner in Warri are unprofessional, doing quack stuffs and expecting to grow. Irrespective of your kind of business try to have recorded statistics that you can refer to.
5. You Get What You Deserve, Not Desire.
Donald Trump, a media sensation through his business reality TV show, “The Apprentice” It was a hit. America has produced too many superstars that offer no services. Trump is a show man and the United State loves TV shows and got one as their president. (Think about the circumstance that brought Kim Kardashian to stardom and how she has been embraced) this same syndrome is evident in our city, Warri is rife with “Yahoo sensation”, young people who chose the unlawful way, instead of hard-work and the reality today in our city is that they are being celebrated instead of abhorred.

6. Don’t Be Deceived.
Last Week, TB Joshua prophesied that Hillary Clinton will win the US election, many will be berating him, whether he was wrong or right is insignificant, but we cannot deny what’s happening in our city. Everywhere you turn is a banner or handbill that promises very unscriptural things and yet people flock to these places why? because they are ignorant and looking for quick fix.

#newwarri is a city, not for the ignorant or quick fixes, we believe in small actions that produces great results. Get to work.
